· School Librarianship
and Standards of Ethics, Values and Normative Principles : As a pre-requisite
every successful profession and its members are bound by defined standard
ethical guidelines which govern the ways and means of the conduct of the
profession and its members while they practice. School Librarianship is not an
exception to this. The following is an extract from, IFLA School Library
Guidelines (2015)p30. : “Every one works in the School Library, including
volunteers, should endeavor to embody the core values of librarianship :
Stewardship, service, intellectual freedom, rationalism, literacy and learning,
equity of access to recorded knowledge and information, privacy, and
democracy. The core values of equity of
access to recorded knowledge and information and intellectual freedom are
embodied in Article 19 of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights and in the
Values of IFLA ( www.ifla.org/about/more )" .
